A Word from the Designers
As you have no doubt noticed, the Hobby Kingdom is unlike any online store or website you have ever seen. Our goal is to provide a broad selection of "intelligent gaming" products at excellent prices with an experience that is engaging and enjoyable for customers.
We believe customers are people first, not an automaton with a wallet. Hobby gaming products are enjoyed by the most imaginative, intelligent, and deep thinking part of society. Being misunderstood by the shallow majority, we are often shunned and called "geeks" or "nerds". Well, at Hobby Kingdom we say the creativity and imagination inside you has worth and is to be appreciated. We give you an opportunity to engage your intellect and revel in who you are.
Hobby Kingdom gives you an opportunity to role-play in a high-fantasy world called Tanselon. You are a noble from a distant land who has come to the nation’s capital to visit the world famous market place located in the Emperor’s castle. One of your messengers has gone ahead to announce your visit and prepare your accommodations. You have the opportunity to play along by simply entering a name and exploring the site.
We realize not everyone is into this kind of thing. That’s OK. If you just want to grab your stuff and checkout as quickly as possible, we have made every effort to accommodate your needs too.
But, if you want a deeper experience, if you are intrigued of what characters and plots you can uncover as a medieval lord in the land of Tanselon, then we are pleased to provide you with an enjoyable and rewarding experience!

Newbie Guide
One of the great challenges in building the Hobby Kingdom was to take a modern concept like e-commerce and put it 1,000 years into the past to create a cohesive medieval experience. We call this process "kingdomizing". We realize that our terms and buttons will be confusing to some visitors so the following is an explanation, or a primer, on the site:
Record Button = Buy button.
A scribe is following your character while you shop, recording your interest in each product. Clicking Record tells the scribe to write it down (puts it into your shopping cart).
Experience and Leveling Up = Rewards Program
We believe customer loyalty should be rewarded, the experience point system is an implementation of a rewards program that should be familiar with many gamers. A further explanation of the rewards program can be found in a
dedicated scroll
Verify Lineage = Secure Login
In ancient times you wouldn’t carry around a driver’s license or birth certificate. Therefore your identity could only be determined by your herald, flag colors, and someone knowing your lineage. HobbyKingdom asks for a name (username), parent (password1), and second parent (password2). This has the advantage of allowing multiple people to have the character name Aragorn, as long as they use different heir combinations.
Create Character = Create Customer Account
In order to track your rewards and ship you your goods, we need to know your name and address. Creating a character is similar to creating an account on other websites.
Retire to my Chamber = View My Account
If you want to make changes to your address or personal information, you can do it from My Chamber. You can also send messengers to Kingdom staff from here.
Training = Product Interests
If you share with us the kind of products you enjoy, the merchant traders of Tanselon can better meet your needs.
Messengers = Email
Any time an email is sent to you, the characters refer to it as dispatching a messenger. For instance, if you want to email someone at Hobby Kingdom about an order, you can dispatch a messenger to the steward from My Chamber.
The Library = FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
The document you are reading is in the library. The library contains scrolls which are essentially help documentation to explain the site.
Site scrolls start with a brief "to the point" answer in modern language. This is for people who don’t revel in the experience of Hobby Kingdom. The second part is the flavour text written for those who want to stay in-character.
The library also contains informational scrolls about Tanselon's races and history for you to enjoy.
Verify Order = Checkout
The scroll to the left is the shopping cart. The button on it called "Verify Order" begins the checkout process. In medieval times, the steward was responsible for the management of a lord’s property and goods. In Hobby Kingdom, servants assist in the shopping process, but you must confirm your order and payment with Jakius before the order is placed.
